Popular Alade Market Guts By Fire In Lagos


Exactly a month after the Ifelodun Plank Market in Demurin, Ketu, Lagos, was razed down in a late night inferno, the popular Alade market on Allen Avenue in Ikeja, was this evening gutted by fire, the National Emergency Management Agency has said.

Details of the incident are still sketchy. NEMA did not say what caused the fire and the extent of damage. But the agency did say nine shops were affected while the timely arrival of rescue agencies saved the market from being completely razed down.
“After fire outbreak this evening, timely arrival of response agencies saved Alade Market on Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos. 9 shops affected,” NEMA’s spokesperson, Yushau Shuaib, said in the one-paragraph
statement.

Recall that the Ifelodun Plank Market in Demurin, Ketu was razed on March 7. The Lagos State Government says it is investigating the incident.
