Couple buys 2-week-old baby for N8,000 in Aba


Police in Imo State have arrested an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs Paulinus Ogugua for allegedly buying a two-week old baby with the sum of N8000 at Aba in Abia State.
The Police Public relations Officer in the state, Joy Elemoko who disclosed this while addressing journalists said the couple, from Umueji-Agha in Akokwa Ideato North local government area of the state, were arrested by the police at Ideato North area of the state while taking the baby to an unknown destination.
The command also paraded a 33 year old suspected child trafficking king-pin, Amarachi Njoku, who is from Umudim in Ikeduru Local government area of Imo state.
Njoku, who confessed to the crime, revealed that he wears female wig and disguises like a female to beat
security operatives.
He also disclosed that it was his second time in the business, adding that he gets babies from ladies who do not want their babies and sell to families looking for babies.
Meanwhile, the Police have promised to investigate the two cases and ensure that all persons involved were brought to book.
